社会福祉法人北野会／「コロッケ？むかしよく作ってたよ」

「コロッケ？ むかしよく作ってたよ。おいしいって評判だったんだから」。かつては夫婦で精肉店を営み、コロッケを毎日100個も作っていたすゑさん。料理好きの建二さんが伝説の技を盗もうと作り方を尋ねると、「忘れちまったよ」。でも、一緒に作り始めると、見て覚えろと言わんばかりにコロッケを上下に弾く。あっという間にきれいな小判形のコロッケが出来上がった。一口食べた建二さんは思わず、「俺と一緒にコロッケ屋開きましょう！」

“Croquettes? Before, I often used to make them, since everyone said how tasty they were.” Formerly running a butcher’s shop as a couple, Sue used to make 100 croquettes a day. But when Kenji, a big fan of the dish and keen to glean the secrets behind the skill, asked how to make them, ‘I forgot’ was her reply. As he insisted = if we start making the croquettes together, you’ll remember again – she flipped the croquettes up and down and produced beautiful oval-shaped croquettes in no time. Kenji, polishing off the croquette in a single bite, spontaneously then said ‘Let’s open a croquette shop together!’
